Press Release

McConnelsville, Ohio-December 26, 2008

Lean Concepts, Inc. is pleased to announce that Miba Bearings in McConnelsville, Ohio is the latest company to embark on a lean journey with us.  Miba recognized that the current economic downturn provided the perfect opportunity to train its employees in the principles of the Toyota Production system as taught by Lean Concepts, Inc experienced trainers.  At the core of the training is waste reduction and process improvement that will enable Miba to improve and standardize their processes and systems to enable them to better position themselves in a more competitive environment.

Headquartered in Austria, Miba was founded in 1927 as a repair and production shop for engine components and has since grown into a leading international group employing over 2,700 people producing and selling sintered components, engine bearings and friction materials at eleven sites worldwide. In its McConnelsville, Ohio facility, the Miba Bearing Group produces engine bearings – components which play an important role in determining an internal combustion engine's functioning and working life. They are used to support crankshafts and camshafts, minimize friction during operation, and protect the engine against damage and breakdown. Miba Bearing Group develops new types of bearing on an ongoing basis, so that even under extreme conditions modern engines deliver top performance, not only efficiently but in an environmentally friendly manner.
Producers of high-performance diesel and gas engines face a broad set of global challenges, including the sheer pace at which markets change and ever-increasing demands with regard to the environment and performance. Thanks to its international presence, Miba Bearing Group – a specialist in engine bearing applications and production of bearings – is well positioned to meet these challenges.
